Collaborative Family Law
Collaborative Law is a conflict resolution process that does not rely on court-imposed resolution. Husbands and wives who are going through divorce, separation, or other family law issues commit themselves to resolving their differences with minimal conflict. Each party acknowledges that it is in his or her best interest to minimize the negative effects and maximize settlement options.
Why Cooperate?
When you cooperate you can reach a compromised settlement that suits your wants, needs, and desires as well as the best interests of your children. You become part of the solution-making process, helping to avoid the costly trials of litigation, as well as avoiding a court-imposed resolution that restructures the life of your family.
How Does The Process Work?
Collaborative Law focuses on settlement and resolution, not on fighting and hurting. In this process, both parties and the attorneys schedule informal, four-way conferences to address the needs of each party. During these sessions, your attorneys use their skills and experience to assist you in achieving a settlement that works for your family.
Information is freely exchanged between the parties regarding all issues involved, while everyone works toward common goals and all issues are addressed. Through this process, there is no worry about wining and losing a court battle, but instead mutually finding the best solution for your family.
